Can’t wait to Conviction

April 12, 2010

Those who have been keeping up with my twitter might have noticed some of my stuff go live in Gamespot UK. If you don’t follow my every move and want to check it out then feel free to click away at this link. I had planned to blog more often during my stay at Gamespot UK but sadly I had a lot of stuff going on in the evenings and decided to be a bit more social while I was travelling into London’s Zone 1 everyday.

I spent the majority of my time capturing footage and playing through builds to find footage we could run features from. Splinter Cell: Conviction debug review code arrived and ended up playing through the game twice. The game has been receiving 8s and 9s in reviews online and in print and I can’t help but agree with the statements being made. It’ll be interesting to see public opinion as comments on forums are full of negative reactions to the trailers. I’m getting a copy for review sometime this week. Can’t wait to sink my teeth into the co-op aspect of the game as I haven’t really dug deep into it.

So what next? Well, I have some more freelance work coming in. I’m back at University and I hope to get some more intern work around the place. One thing I do know is that I am totally convinced this is what I want to do. I’ve seen the back work, the style and I’ve got even more drive to push myself forward than I think I have ever before. This is good. This is really good.

Been on and off my Xbox this week, desperate to sit down and have a decent gaming session. Borrowed Splinter Cell: Double Agent and Resonance of Fate off of a friend and am also busting my way through the Bioshock 2 single player. Also working my way through Pokemon: Heart Gold on the DS.

All I know is that it’ll be weird getting back into my old routine now I’ve had a taste of my possible future.

I was recently in a Splinter Cell mood, but I just re-purchased Chaos Theory through Steam instead. It will be nice to see how everyone takes in the ‘Mark & Execute’ feature. From what I’ve seen, read, and heard, it doesn’t really sound like my cup of tea. I’ll reserve judgement until I get my hands on the actual game though.
