Salamander Loves Co-Creation

May 5, 2010

Been battling my way through the first few chapters of Lost Planet 2 on 360 and PS3 this week. It is one tough game to face alone! Review embargo ends tomorrow and I am currently trying to get together a bunch of early owners to play some multiplayer. However, I am failing miserably. It looks like I am going to have to go off of my experience of playing it at the multiplayer event a few weeks back.

The game looks fantastic, I still adore the Salamander and feel slightly guilty each time it dissolves and pops out boxes and t-energy. Just waiting for Capcom to sell the plushies as I want to hug him at night. Not like that, you filthy boy/girl!

Highlights so far have been emote thrusting my groin around and killing big. My current lowlight was changing normal to easy on one boss fight as I had no co-op partners to help me. I feel disgusted with myself, it’s been a long time since I’ve used the easy setting in a game (*cough* Street Fighter IV *cough*). Anyway, you will have to wait until tomorrow for the full review. Keep an eye out!

What else has been going on? Well I have my essay title for my next Games Studies piece: Comment on the practices and transformative potential of co-creation in relation to games. I’m actually pretty excited to delve into this one next week, I think there is a lot to be said and researched. Thankfully BFF Korina is helping me out with some examples from Ubisoft, thank you very much.

Anyway, I have to get these pieces written up and play some more Pokémon at some point too! Busy, busy, busy~

Dat essay title. If you want to do a section on user-generated content, get LittleBigPlanet (it’s really, really good and super cheap now) and we can ‘co-create’ together, if you know what I mean.*

    * I mean build and upload a community level together, if you know what I mean.**
